• An item is defined by a unique HCR code (incl. its version 001).
• Each PCB, mechanical parts, any part with a CERN specification (magnetics), critical component for operation and repair will get a HCR Code. (Parts like screws, nuts, connectors are applicable).
• Each Item is described through documents like: BOM, Schematics, Pictures, Assembly, test procedures depending on item's nature.

The EPC database traces the HCR equipement unit, associated to a S/N number, and then pointing to a physical individual. It can indicates where it is located at CERN, its history: repair and the logbook it would be associated.

The physical individual item is linked to the model item documentation, stored in EDMS (see above).

A normalized request template exists, in order to request a valid Item structure to EPC/OMS.
