Introduction

This page indicates which preferred software to use & how to exchange files at CERN.

Context

The section decided (2018-2021) to use open source softwares when possible (office suite, simulation, web-editor etc...), in order to improve flexibility (Linux OS, teleworking from home computer). As a result, using ODF (LibreOffice x) is now possible with support of dedicated templates.

Exchanging files with colleagues

Adequate software should be used when editing documents, to maintain effective flow and reduce incompatibility effect. Also, when exchanging documents wider at CERN, OOXML documents should be used. This is particularly the case for documents which could be co-edited (functional specification), or other documents exchanged with purchasing services.
