topHCR Code

CERN, and therefore EPC uses a codification based on a 19 characters code, which intends to identify any item at CERN, if managed. (Not all items owns a "HCR code"; this decision comes from the item designer or owner, and reflets his aim to trace, identify and manage through database tool the unit.

LHC, LHC, Rectifier (EPC). LHC-Inherited. A 4-char unique item type code. Some letters can indicate item nature. A 3-dig item type version, or _ _ _ for a converter.   Manuf. code. (CR: CERN). A 6-dig Serial number, for each given item. This S/N allows to trace the item during its whole life (repair, operation...).
