topEquipment Use / Goal

This device, designed internally will allow the test of AC-DC units including several on-line checks, like output voltage deviation for long period of burn-in test. Goal is to be able to trim dedicated loads at a given current and to be able to easily proceed with type test and with reception tests.

topEquipment Architecture

Tester can be illustrated by:

Simplified Schematic

Active-Load-Tester simplified Architecture / Topology .vsd

Key points of the tester are:

  • A compact 19'' 3U unit, water cooled (silent), up to 10 units in a same rack.
  • Up to 12 independant and adjustable load channels per unit. (12 = 4 trivolt power supplies to be tested)
    • IChannel.max = 50A max
    • VChannel.max = 48V max
    • PChannel.max = 200W max
  • A robust architecture, without any programming devices, flexibility being given by adjustable settings from the front panel.

Test Comments
Goal of the test phase. Test Conditions, limits of interest.
Type Test Check the stability working area of the unit being evaluated, check the overall unit performances (efficiency vs load). Dynamic & static load use. Dynamic Load response, change of load dynamic regulation (fast/slow).
Reception Test Validate a full batch of same reference units, minimizing the effort on manpower, to ensure a minimum reliability on the device. Load setting is static, and active function are enabled to check the output voltage signal. DC and AC measurements are compared to trimmable references.
