A converter cannot work alone, and needs the services. Some rules are listed below:

• IT material (ethernet switchs, gateways (industrial computer) should never be mixed with live power electronics. Reason is dust power converter could generate to IT equipement, plus possible EMC constraints.
• Spare racks should always be provided, with a spare quantity on site ideally to ease standby service action. Quantities are: 2 units minimum generally for low cost/size units if exceeded 20 units installed.
• Spare controllers like FGCx shouls always be powered and accessible from the network (automatic software upgrade)
• Cupboards should always be provided for SY-EPC.

A converter can require water, specific ambient temperature conditions, electricity, UPS. Some rules are below:

Except in special cases, rear access and front access are both required to maintain the converters:

• 140 cm free in front of each rack (120cm minimum)
• 80 cm free at the rear of each rack (70cm minimum)
