 Overview
This pages gives a summary / list of some specific points to be evaluated, on a commercial power unit, to ensure its compatibility with standard powering solutions used in the group. It reviews the standards, but also the components being used, and if they are suitable with converter use at CERN.
An EDMS doc: MANUFACTURER REFERENCE CERN Suitability Evaluation is created, with a report file.
Points of interest / compatibility
- Components choice
- Voltage rating of AC connected devices, and short circuit current capability of protection devices (fuses, breaker use).
- Fan type (MTBF).
- EMC input filter reference.
- Input and output connectors being used.
- Sensors choice
- Choice of current sensors if used, and of interest (DCCT, shunts etc...)
- PCB and components accessibility, internal design layout
- Evaluation of the reparability of the unit: one big PCB, several not accessible, plate preventing access to major components.
- Standards, CE Marking
- Review of standards the commercial unit is compliant with; check of CE marking.
